The Volunteers
The volunteers have donated hundreds of hours of time, resources and equipment, and good will. We could not function without those that commit every week, but equally important are those who donate half an hour when they can, or bake for us, donate plants, ideas and resources.....you know who you are...Thankyou.
Bracken Edge Primary School and PTA
When we started we had no money, no tools, no plants or seeds, so we formed as a community group with a management comittee, constitution and bank account, in order that we could apply for funding. The PTA donated £70 for us to spend on Spring bulbs and hand tools. We held our first event in October 2010, an autumnal bulb plant session in the school grounds. The PTA also supports us by allowing us to have stall at the summer and winter fayres where we sell plants, cakes and preserves.
The school has also match funded us, which allowed us to buy self watering beds when growing space was scarce. They have also organised outdoor taps and hoses, a new shed and the resources to build the new allotment plot in the foundation unit.
The staff have allowed us access over holidays to maintain the plants growing, and weekend access for one off events. Enabling us to find a loo and make a brew when needed! In general the school has given a free rein to the group and allowed us to develop our own working practice and policies procedures. Thankyou.

The Co-operative Community Fund
Was our first true funder, they allowed us to buy storage boxes, a growhouse, tools and a compost ball.
Chapletown and Harehills Extended Services
Funded us to buy further tools to work with an after school group, a foundation stage group and a Friday Golden time group.
Lidl
Donated £30 for us to purchase items in-store, we bought compost and seeds.
Strikes Garden Centre, Redhall Lane
Sadly no longer there. The team at Strikes donated ripped bags of compost, probably about 80 in total.
Andrew Tear
Donated a beautiful winnow basket and stone flour mill, wheat seeds, and Rhubarb crowns. This has proven probably one of the most popular activities each year. We sow our seed, and once grown harvest it to make our own flour, once threshed, winnowed and milled.
The community of Harehills Lane Baptist Church
The church community has supported us by donating plants, and encouraging us to do a stall at the Spring and Winter Fayres. We sell plants, chutneys and jams, it has a fantastic atmosphere.....come along to the next one! They have a fantastic community cafe on a Monday...go along for some wonderful home cooked food and a warm welcome. They also have many other community based activities on offer.
The Grapevine, forum of Grow your own vegetables magazine
"Grapes" have donated so much seed over the years we could feed leeds! They have freely given seed, advice and support and encouragement. Thankyou.
The community gardens of Leeds
St Mary's Community Roof Garden, The Inkwell Garden, The FeelGood Factor Garden and the Chapletown Edible Public Space , as well as the Back to Front project, have all given tremendous encouragement.
Cornerstone Housing Co-op
For generously donating £200 in January 2013. This will allow us to buy new tools for a new growing area and to kit out the foundation allotment plot. This money will be especially handy as we need to buy new tools to use in our new growing area. We were mainly able to use hand tools previously but now we will need to bring out the big guys!
Leeds Urban Harvest
For coming and showing the children how to make apple juice which led them to their first BBC One appearance on "Inside out" Yorkshire shown in February 2012.
Leeds Met University Landscape and urban Design Dept
